About us

Lucid Education provides clear, affordable, non-political classes about mathematics and science to middle- and high-school students. All of our classes are available online, but some are also offered in-person in the Atlanta area with Mr. Owens.

  • B.S.E, 1988, Duke University, Mechanical Engineering and Physics.


  • 2005 - 2022: Homeschool physics and math teacher. Taught high school Physics, Prealgebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Precalculus, Calculus, Physical Science, and Computer Science to groups of homeschool students in the Atlanta area and to online students across the country and around the world.
  • 2006 - 2012: Physics teacher, The Westminster Schools summer school program, Atlanta, GA
  • 2007 - 2011: AP Calculus Teacher, Providence Christian Academy in Lilburn, GA.
  • 2000 - 2005: Software developer for Linmar Systems and FundTech Corporation in Norcross, GA.
  • 2000 - 2003: Homeschool physics teacher. Taught high school Physics classes for groups of homeschool students in the Atlanta area.
  • 1988 - 2000: Teacher at The Westminster Schools, Atlanta, GA. Taught Physics, Honors Physics, AP Physics, and AP Computer Science; assistant cross country coach, FCA sponsor.
  • Summer 1994: Sailing Instructor, James Island Yacht Club, Charleston SC.
  • Summer 1992: National Science Foundation Scholarship recipient, studied history and philosophy of science at L’Abri Fellowship in England.
  • Summer 1991, 1993: Physics instructor at the Talent Identification Program, a summer program at Duke University for 8th - 11th graders.
  • Summer 1985 - 1989: Staff, Camp Rockmont for Boys, Black Mountain, NC.
  • 1987 - 1988: Tutor, Agape Corner, Christian home for underprivileged children, Durham, NC.
